Elisabeth Musical - European tour

The Elisabeth musical about Empress "Sisi" of Austria and Queen of Hungary (1837-1998) written by Michael Kunze (lyrics) and Sylvester Levay (music) is considered the most successful original German-language musical. After a guest performance in Berlin's Theater des Westens, the production by Harry Kupfer began a European tour in several stages in the Theater 11 in Zürich.

In addition to various venues in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, there were stops in Antwerp (Belgium), where the production was performed in Flemish, as well as the staged premiere at the Politeama Il Rossetti in Triest (Italien) - a place with which the real Elisabeth and her family were connected.

The tour was produced by Andrea Friedrichs for LaBelle Musical and promoted by Semmel Concerts.

Musically, the tour was overseen in different responsibilities by only three conductors in the period 2008-2012: Daniel Behrens, Hauke Wendt and Paul Christ. In the title role almost throughout was Annemieke van Dam with one exception, the Belgian Ann van den Broeck, who played most of the performances in Antwerp.
